If they do realize it, your friends (if they are true friends) will most likely support you through whatever you are going through. I am happy that you are getting the help you need.

I used to always see my school's counsellor once a week. It's nothing to be ashamed of. My friends and classmates understood why I would disappear for a class and reappear at the next or halfway through a double. By going you're showing your developing strength, You should be proud that you are able to say that you need help overcoming your demons; it's braver having someone help you than go it alone. Believe me I know

There's no shame in seeking counseling or getting mental health help. How is getting a "check-up" on your brain any different from getting your teeth checked at the orthodontist, or going to a fitness class, or undergoing cancer treatments? Sometimes different parts of our bodies need a bit of tuning up, including our minds and our mental well-being.
